Meet the Hortons

Meet Lisa Lockhart.  She’s a shy knowledge sim from a land far away and unknown.  After her father’s funeral, Lisa packed up all her belongings and used her inheritance to find a respectable house in Enchanted Falls, a small, but quickly growing sim neighborhood.

Lisa knew she wanted to follow in her father’s footsteps along the science career path.  She loved science and would be more than happy to devote her whole entire life to it.  Her dream was to one day be abducted by aliens and she quickly bought the most expensive telescope she could find off ebay.  Afterwards, she searched the online classified listings and found a great starter job as a Lab Assistant in a medical facility in town.

She mostly ignored neighbors who came wandering by wanting to meet her.  Instead, Lisa holed herself up and studied night and day in order to advance in her career.

One Day Dennis Horton happened to be strolling down the street while Lisa was getting her mail (bills, same as always!) and he looked so friendly she couldn’t help but say hello.  Dennis wasn’t quite as shy as she, so he took control of the conversation and they chatted out by the curb until night fall.  As it was dark and kind of creepy, Lisa felt she knew Dennis well enough by now to invite him into her home.  They shared their interests with one another and continued chatting for hours more.  Lisa instantly clicked with Dennis and she knew this, but she was still surprised when he very obviously hit on her.  She was flattered and responded by giving Dennis a peck on the lips.

That was only the beginning.  Before long, Dennis was over at Lisa’s almost every night.  Sometimes he came by before she even had a chance to change from her work clothes and call him up to invite him over.  As Lisa worked harder to be promoted, she had less time for Dennis though.  She knew their relationship would suffer unless he moved into the house, so she asked him if he would.  Dennis was delighted to say yes.  He was sharing an apartment with Horace, an old high school friend, so he didn’t have any furniture or many belongings to bring with him.  He did have a cool chunk of change however.  It was at this point Lisa found out Dennis had dollar signs in his eyes.  He loved money, but thankfully he loved her more.  He was just starting out in the career of politics.  He really wanted to become a Congressman one day.

Not too long after he moved in, Dennis asked Lisa to marry him and she said yes.  In the back of her mind, she feared having a family and was sure Dennis was aware that her career was important to her. She did want children, but she would not give up her career or studies.  She knew it would be difficult, but she was sure she’d have enough time to manage both her family and her career.

Their ceremony was small, with only a few friends and acquaintances invited.

Despite being small, the ceremony was absolutely lovely.  Dennis and Lisa purchased a beautiful wedding cake which they served at the reception.

Dennis and Lisa had their own private celebration to make the night complete.  They immediately wanted to get pregnant as Lisa was unclear whether she’d have time to devote to her children later in her career.

As planned, Lisa quickly became pregnant and before she knew it, she was on maternity leave.  She used this time to study cleaning and cooking skills during the day and stargazed with her telescope at night to build logic.  She wanted to get a promotion right away when she returned to work and then Dennis and Lisa planned to have another child.

Dennis was a lot more playful than Lisa and enjoyed talking to their unborn child and rubbing Lisa’s belly for comfort.  He was so in love with this baby already he just couldn’t stand it.

Lisa waited until the last moment to purchase a crib and changing table, despite Dennis checking up on her daily about it.  Before either of them were ready, Lisa sprang into labor in the middle of the night.  Dennis awoke, shocked and watched Lisa moan in pain.  He prayed she and the baby would make it through this without any complications.

They named their daughter Zoe.  She had violet eyes and dark hair like her mother and olive skin like her father.  Lisa was unsure of her maternal skills and feared even the small things, like changing Zoe’s diaper.  Even though it was her original goal, Lisa didn’t return to work right away, but stayed home a little while longer to take care of and bond with her baby girl.  She thought her career meant so very much, but she was wrong.  While her career was still important to her, she knew what really mattered was Dennis and her daughter Zoe.  She knew her life and happiness stemmed from her family, not her job.
